All of the shells in this collection have been found in fill dirt that has been excavated from the many dirt pits located in Lee and Charlotte counties, dirt from these pits is typically used as fill for the construction of houses, commercial buildings and parking lots.

These shells are fragile as many are at different stages of fossilization, proof that the state of Florida was once at the bottom of the Ocean. These amazing shells give us a glimpse into the

past, and should be preserved.

By embellishing them with things like tile, beads, mirrors and glass they become beautiful pieces of art. Each shell is one of a kind, unique in its size, shape, condition and brokenness -sort of like people- they are signed and numbered.
